Welcome to Mosaic West Michigan

Six lakeshore communities, three things every week, and a directory of 112 organizations that help. Mosaic starts today.

Holland, Zeeland, Grand Haven, Hudsonville, Allendale, Saugatuck, Fennville. Six communities along one shoreline, each with its own council, its own schools, its own calendar and its own people who help. Mosaic covers them as the places they are, and it starts today.

Every week brings three things. On Sunday, a look ahead at what the councils, boards and commissions are about to decide, with the dollar amounts and the addresses. On Thursday, every event we can find from Sunday to Sunday, from library story times to township meetings, each one linked to its source. On Friday, what was decided, who voted how, and what it means.

Behind the week is the Community Support Directory: 112 organizations that help people with food, housing, health care, mental health, legal problems and more, each one checked against its own website, with hours, eligibility and what to bring. It is in English and in Spanish, and 16 of those organizations have confirmed they serve people in Spanish.

The site is built around towns. Pick yours from the Towns menu and you will find this week's events, the latest decisions, the help nearest you and the groups that meet there, all on one page.

Mosaic means mosaic: many pieces, one picture. The pieces are yours. Send us an organization, a business, a group or an event through the Nominate page. Tell us when we get something wrong through Corrections. Subscribe and the week arrives in your inbox. And once a month, come to Mosaic Night, one evening in a local business in a different town each time, open to anyone.
