Editorial standards

Mosaic publishes three kinds of things: what local governments decided and are about to decide, what is happening this week, and who can help. Each one is verified before it goes out.

Civic coverage

Look-aheads and wrap-ups come from the published agendas, packets and minutes of the councils, boards and commissions we follow, and from the recordings of their meetings. We report the vote, the dollar amount, the date and the address. We name who voted how. When a decision is complicated, we say what it means for a reader in plain words, and we link to the document.

Events

Every event in the weekly roundup has a source: the organizer's own calendar, a library or city feed, or a direct confirmation. We list the day, time, place and price, and we mark free events as free. Events we could not confirm are not listed.

The support directory

Every organization in the directory has been checked against its own website or by phone, and each page shows when it was last verified. We list what the organization says about hours, eligibility and cost. We re-check listings on a schedule and whenever a reader tells us something changed.

Sources and independence

Sources are named inline. Mosaic accepts no payment for coverage or for a listing. Advertising and sponsorships, when they exist, are labeled.

Spanish

The Spanish layer is written for readers, in the usted form, and reviewed by Spanish speakers from the community. An organization is marked as serving in Spanish only when it confirmed that to us.
